Our ReporterDimapur, Nov. 21 (EMN): The two-day ‘Wangala Mini Hornbill’, a post-harvest thanksgiving festival of the Garo tribe, got underway on Monday at Ekranipathar village, Dimapur. Speaking on the festive occasion as guest of honour, Azheto Zhimomi, MLA, said the Garo community must not forget the past leaders who have worked hard for the welfare and uplift of their community. The MLA also said that tradition and culture are a tribe’s identity and that when a community or tribe lose their tradition and culture, then their identity will also vanish. Zhimomi said in order to maintain and preserve their culture and tradition, the community must have unity and urged the gathering to foster unity among themselves. Nagaland hosts UN climate conference session

Dimapur, Nov. 16 (EMN): Nagaland government, as part of the Indian delegates, for the first time hosted a session at the ongoing UN Climate Conference COP 27 in Sharm el-sheikh, Egypt. An update informed that Nagaland was represented by Dharmendra Prakash, PCCF and HOFF; M Senthil CCF from the department of Environment Forest and Climate Change, and Dr. Atoho, director of Climate Studies and Knowledge Solutions Centre, Department of Science and Technology. Nagaland: Mmhonlumo Kikon exhorts students to be solution providers

Our Correspondent Kohima, Oct 31 (EMN): Advisor of New & Renewable Energy Resources, IT & C, Science and Technology, Mmhonlumo Kikon, on Monday exhorted students to be solution providers and not creators. The advisor was addressing the cultural fest of Little Flower Higher Secondary School (LFHSS) Kohima, held on the theme ‘Connect: Let’s celebrate our differences and live as one’ at the school campus. Kikon urged the students to look at the larger picture and not to dwell on petty differences but to appreciate one another. “Jealousy is the weapon of the weak people and strong people will embrace challenge and competition,” he said. A book This is how we disappear released in Kohima

Our CorrespondentKohima, Oct. 25 (EMN): A book titled “This is how we disappear,” written by Dr. Emisenla Jamir, was released by Mmhonlumo Kikon, advisor of New and Renewable Energy Resources, IT&C, Science and Technology, on Tuesday at Kohima College Kohima (KCK). Speaking at the book launch event, Kikon encouraged the Naga writers and poets to promote literature and also promote reading culture. He remarked works of Emisenla as ‘seamless with comfort, easiness and familiarity of the language.’ Kikon also elaborated on the importance of books through literature and written forms, which contributed towards building a society. He also appreciated the Penthrill Publication House for being the voice of the rural people in publishing the works of writers. Dr. Emisenla Jamir had previously released a poetry book titled ‘Loneliness is an Orange.’ She is an assistant professor at Kohima College Kohima.
