Cheektowaga Police are continuing their investigation into an early Monday morning traffic accident that proved fatal to a Buffalo teen.
Investigators have released more details, saying a 2012 Chevy Malibu was westbound on Walden Avenue just after 3:45 a.m. at a high rate of speed when it sideswiped a parked car and spun out of control, striking a utility pole on Walden at Hoerner Avenue. The car then hit a building at 1096 Walden, causing significant damage.

Leena Velez, 17, was ejected from the moving vehicle and died from her injuries later that morning at Erie County Medical Center. Another passenger, a 30-year-old male, was treated for minor injuries at ECMC and released.

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WKBW) â Cheektowaga police say a 17-year-old girl was killed in a crash on Monday morning and a 21-year-old man is facing several charges including aggravated vehicular homicide and driving while intoxicated.
Police say Leena Velez of Buffalo was killed after the car she was in crashed into a utility pole and a building at Walden Avenue and Hoerner Avenue in Cheektowaga around 4 a.m. on Monday.
Police say another passenger, a 30-year-old Buffalo man was taken to ECMC to be treated for minor injuries.
