The 12th annual Mizzou International Composers Festival began Sunday, July 25 in a hybrid in person and online format, featuring groundbreaking new music from resident and guest composers.
MICF annually features eight resident composers from many countries, who can then bring their experience at the festival back to their universities and workplaces abroad. After a competitive application process, they were chosen as resident composers to have their work performed at the festival. They collaborate with the guest composers, who also have the chance to showcase some of their pieces.
The Mizzou New Music Initiative organizes and hosts the Mizzou International Composers Festival in Columbia every year, where it features several special events like concerts, workshops and presentations from composers.
