Thu, 7 Jan 2021, 08:02 08:02 AM | BY: MARTIN Block-and-ash flows from Merapi volcano today (image: @BPPTKG) Visibility of the block-and-ash flows from Merapi volcano was limited due to dense clouds (image: @BPPTKG) The activity of the volcano continues at elevated levels. Expected dangerous hot pyroclastic flows occurred at 08:02 and 12:50 local time today likely as a result of gravitational collapse of the lava dome caused by more frequent volcano-tectonic earthquakes.
