After suspicions were raised the head teacher at St Wilfrid s Academy compared Mitchell s Facebook activity with train transactions and realised they matched her weekends away rather than school trips. Mitchell, 48, pleaded guilty to 11 charges of fraud by abuse of position. She was made subject to a community order for 12 months with conditions she completes a thinking skills programme and 200 hours unpaid work.

Mitchell, 48, of Hollin Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to 11 charges of fraud by abuse of position. She was made subject to a community order for 12 months with conditions she completes a thinking skills programme and 200 hours unpaid work. She was ordered to pay £706 compensation to St Wilfrid s, £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

(Matt Gade / Republic) As the coordinator of the Caring Closet of Mitchell, Jodi Reiners mostly works behind the scenes, sorting and organizing donations and generally taking the head leadership role in the group. But she has, on occasion, seen the emotional impact the program can have on those who rely on it. “At first they’re a little shy because they feel a little self-conscious about it,” Reiners said in a recent interview with the Mitchell Republic. “But it is very heartwarming. You can see how much they appreciate it.”
