The Syracuse Crunch opened scoring, but the Utica Comets responded with five unanswered goals to take a 5-1 win tonight at the Adirondack Bank Center.

The loss moves the Crunch to 10-7-1-0 on the season and 2-3-0-0 in the 14-game season series against the Comets.
Goaltender Sam Montembeault had a five-game winning streak snapped as he turned aside 42-of-47 shots in net for the Crunch. Joel Hofer earned the win with 24 saves between the pipes for the Comets. Syracuse went 0-for-6 on the power play, while Utica was 2-for-9.

UTICA, N.Y. - Utica Comets goalie Joel Hofer, a St. Louis Blues prospect, notched his first professional win as the team rallied with five unanswered goals in the final two periods to beat the Syracuse Crunch 5-1 at the Adirondack Bank Center, Tuesday.
The Comets spent half of the opening frame shorthanded taking five penalties, but the Crunch took a 1-0 lead into the locker room on a short-handed goal by Taylor Raddysh. Syracuse outshot Utica 14-9, but Hofer made a few key saves to keep it a one-goal game.

Comets excited to be back on the ice, cautiously optimistic to get season back on track
After nearly one month on pause due to COVID-19 protocols, the Comets have returned to practice with the hopes that they will resume their game slate this coming weekend.

The team last played on March 10 against the Rochester Americans. The following day the Amerks had a positive COVID-19 test, and subsequently so did the Comets, with their case deemed to have occurred through contact with the affected member of Rochester s team.
