fact democrats and other political aides on both sides of the party line are saying this probably the one chance democrats have to pass major sweeping domestic legislation. but that calculus changes if you pass a voting rights bill that prevents the gerrymandering we re going to be seeing from the states, that makes it more likely that republicans are able to take back the house next year. there are estimates that republicans will be able to take back the house just based on gerrymandered districts alone within the next year. so if you get this bill over the line or some sort of bill that protects voting rights, that dilutes the ability of states to gerrymander, that makes it more likely democrats are able to retain power, and republicans know that. mitch mb connell knows that. that s why he s so against these sets of bills when in the past he has been all for changing up and procuring votes. after the 2000 election, he was one of the main sponsors of the most recent federal voting rig
