the temperature was still above 90 when that train broke down in she everly, maryland. even after the air conditioning went out, passengers were told they had to stay on board. that was too much for some to take and eventually clouds started to spill out of the train. jane watrel joins us from union station where hundreds of people first boarded that train toward baltimore. jane? reporter: well, doreen, officials estimate 250 to 300 passengers were on board that marked train that was stranded near the d.c./maryland line. many of them started to get sick from the oppressive heat. cell phone video shows chaos along the tracks as hundreds of passengers were stranded in the heat for over two hours. officials say their commuter train s engine broke down. people started breaking the windows out. i had to call an ambulance for one person because she was suffering from heat, almost heat stroke. she had a medical condition. we saw them lift somebody else up in a chair. apparentl
