Thats why we live here, and thats why such a wonderful destination for our visitors. Welcome again to Miami Book Fair, and we have a truly wonderful treat in store for you today. I hope many of you have had the opportunity all week to enjoy the outstanding presentations that have been taking place this year. I hope that you will continue with us through tomorrow evening when the sevenday fair closes. You know, this fair just would not take place each and every year without the cooperation, the collaboration, the passion, and the volunteerism of many people in our community. Namely, the students, faculty, staff of Miamidade College. [applause] and really hundreds of high school students, middle School Stunts and others in the community. So we truly thank everyone for coming together and unifying behind this Miami Book Fair.
Walter isaacsons leonardo da vinci. I havent read it actually. We have t been selling it by the bushel. I havent read it, i cant keep it in stock for myself. Every time i take it home, we have to bring it back for another customer. As walter does, he struck a chord, what he has done with this book, he is going to open up, it is going to be educational tool for some people he dont know the story of leonardo. Walter is University Professor of history at tulane, former ceo of the aspen institute, chairman of cnn and the managing editor of time magazine. He is the author of the innovators. Imagine growing up the younger brother of two big strapping older brothers, jo kennedy, jr. , jack kennedy, both six footers, healthy, wellfed, confident, elegant, popular. He is this little guy. His father called him a runt. Ignoredtl him. He was sort of the irish kid that was not going to get the land. He was not going to inherit anything. I think what happened was, that helped him develop empathy. That was great thing he had. He could emphasize with people in trouble. Poor whites in appalachia, blacks in mississippi delta. Blacks, live living on mow lassies with extended stomachs like they were in africa. He was interested in people that had no votes for him, native americans on reservations.
