Benzie County has picked its next County Administrator, and it didn’t have to look very far to find her.
Almost two dozen people applied for the job. But in the end County Commissioners chose the current Finance and HR Director, Katelyn Zeits.
Zeits has only been with the county for two months – she came over from the City Clerk’s office in Traverse City. But she says Benzie is her hometown and she’s ready to serve. “I’ve actually lived in Benzie County for six years now so I’m excited to serve my home community.”

BENZIE COUNTY The Benzie County Board of Commissioners voted during its April 27 meeting to use money given from the state from the sale of recreational marijuana to help pay down the county s unfunded pension liability.
According to Mitch Deisch, county administrator, the board voted to put the entirety of the county s share, $84,000 from the sale of state approved recreational marijuana products, into its unfunded pension liability.

BENZIE COUNTY The Benzie County Board of Commissioners chose Hiring Solutions LLC to help in the search for a new county administrator.
The decision was made in a special meeting held Friday to review information and interview representatives from three different search firms.
The other firms interviewed included Gov HR and MML Executive Search Firm.
Hiring Solutions fees are estimated to be around $16,300 for the search, which includes background checks and assessments. The board of commissioners directed current county administrator Mitch Deisch to work with the firm to find four candidates.
