Chamber names Warren Davis Springfieldian of the Year News-Leader staff © Submitted by the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce presented Warren Davis with the 2021 Springfieldian Award at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting, held Friday at the Oasis Hotel & Convention Center. An incredibly strong work ethic and a willingness to take a chance on projects others might find too risky are defining characteristics of Warren Davis. Those qualities, along with a lifetime of achievements and dedication to the area, were celebrated Friday night as the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce presented Davis with the 2021 Springfieldian Award. The announcement was the culmination of the Chamber’s Annual Meeting, held this year at the Oasis Hotel & Convention Center.

Applications for efactory Accelerator Program Open May 1 Paige Oxendine Assistant Director, efactory Applications for Cohort 5 of the efactory Accelerator program will open on May 1, 2021 and remain open through midnight on May 31, 2021. The program, which helps entrepreneurs jumpstart companies and shave years off their roadmap to success, provides selected participants with a capital investment in addition to world-class support and entrepreneurial resources.  Companies selected to participate in Cohort 5 will each receive a $30,000 investment in exchange for eight percent equity. But Baynes, CEO of a Springfield-based startup devoted to optimizing the ecommerce shopping experience through smart recommendation, said heartland entrepreneurs with a winning idea don t have to venture so far away in search of seed capital. Baynes company, Compatio, was among hundreds of applicants competing for one of five spots in Missouri State University s 2019 eFactory Accelerator program, the most recent year the eFactory ran the program. The Accelerator took a pause during the 2020 pandemic year, but it s coming back for 2021.
