the american public, by the citizens of our country. i want to start with the air force. i know that brigadier general david is on the phone. david, tell me about what you do. we defend the busiest airfields in afghanistan. we support our teammates and our mission sets, and we deliver airpower throughout the entire region of afghanistan. i know you can t see us right now, but you have 150 air men in that room that would love to say happy thanksgiving to you. what do you say to the president? happy thanksgiving! president trump: that is really fantastic. how are things going over there? are they looking up? how s it looking to you? you have been there a while. you know what is happening better than anybody. how do you find things are goi
the wall system therefore is infrastructure, technology, personnel and add it is closing the loopholes that we can promptly remove those with interdict. we look at four main mission sets. impedance and denial granted through the infrastructure. demain awareness and the cameras. access and mobility so border patrol agents can respond to threats and then we look at mission readiness. having the personnel we need to do the job. because of the impact to local communities and in texas and elsewhere along the border, do you have any objection to consulting with local stakeholders as they try to come up with perhaps innovative solutions to deal with the border security challenge? it s an open invitation. the only way that we ll be able to protect the border is by working with both state and
2015 charlie hebdo massacre in paris. u.s. officials are saying additional intelligence was uncovered pertaining to safe havens, terror groups tactics and its bomb-making it can nbc as well as its training operations. they say that additional action will be taken based on that intelligence down the road. now, there were over 20 air strikes carried out against the terror group yesterday targeting what u.s. officials say were al qaeda, infrastructure al qaeda militant. now, they are saying that that strike group was not related to the intelligence gathered in the raid. that had been in the planning for some time, but we re now hearing local reports of even additional strikes being carried out overnight. the pentagon has yet to confirm those, but we re going to be following this closely. now, we re seeing a real uptick of actions by the military against the terror group. this is part of these kind of expanded mission sets that the military has pursued in the early days of the trump pres
anti-assad forces. this has to remain a very focused mission against trying to deter and then to defeat. two different mission sets. just to further deter and defeat. moving into the direction of trying to defeat isis. we can t have a discussion about what s going to happen with assad. that s an objective but we can t put that on the table now and then if you move over to the east in what is taking place in mosul clearly what you have now done has bounded this cal fate and you begin to squeeze it in a little bit more allowing the iraqi forces up north and mosul to continue to achieve success there and reclaim the city and then the united states supporting turkey in northern syria. this really can become a much larger mission increasing the risk calculation. that s exactly what it s all about. i guess what is curious is that president trump during the campaign as a candidate expressed great disapproval at the way things had gone in iraq.
