Kelli Foreman, assistant executive director of the Kodiak Baptist Mission, is also managing the Missionâs Farm Club.Â
The after-school program teaches students from second grade to middle school the value of hard work and responsibility, as well as the rewards of their labor.
Students take on daily chores that are common to some youngsters who live on farms and ranches: They pick chicken and duck eggs and clean them, feed and water livestock, milk goats and clean stables. They also participate in planting and harvesting gardens.
They also get to see how their duties can be productive. Eggs and goatsâ milk are sold at the Mission Heritage House and will be offered at the missionâs Crab Festival booth.
