Here today and for all of your messages of support throughout my youth of the year journey. Your encouragement has truly meant so much to me. This journey is not something that happened overnight. Throughout this process, i spent many weeks away from the city, spent many nights working 12hour days, doing my come and coming back just in time to get to class. By the time i finished Elementary School i saw the beast of poverty. I ran out of fingers to count the youth in my community that lost their lives to gun violence. The club made sure to stay open the nights of shootings, making it so we would have a caring and dependable place to go when it wasnt safe to go home. The club gave me a place where i could be my authentic self. The club showed me the power of a good education and encouraged me to go into private school. It wasnt easy. I found my sense of self slipping away as i switched between environments, but i could always find myself back at the club, a place i didnt have to alter w
Clear, i mean, this is like eight affordable units out of 60. Okay . So its not 18 percent. And even 18 percent is way lower than the mission needs. These large state projects that come under state law you heard about oh we cant do anything about adus because the state says we cant. We cant do anything about this because the state says you cant. Youre widening authority is being constantly narrowed by these state projects that are, these state laws that are one size fits all. And that one size does not fit San Francisco. Youve got to find a way to push back on some of this stuff and particularly in the mission we cant have, you know projects that are done with such low affordability and false data. This project assumes their Traffic Studies or whatever 7 deliveries per day. Seven deliveries per day for 60 units. I get at least one a day myself. You know. Seven deliveries a day. And having adequate accommodation for that . Thats just false data. And its wrong. And it should be reexamine
Hello. I am austin. I am the Youth Commission staff. We wanted to come through to show that we create change not by thinking of how good everything works for the privileged folks. We think about change in how it treats the people on the margins, undocumented folks, black and brown folks and transand gender, nonconforming folks. We cannot forget what happened with the gladiator case against the sheriff which supervisor walton called for a hearing on accountability of the Sheriffs Department about how are people currently being treated. Right now we are thinking about longstanding promises and this is the problem we need to address right here. You will have the position and power to do that. Please listen to the plans and recommendations made already. Thank you. Next speaker. Hello. I am Third Generation san franciscan. I am calling for a change. This doesnt go far enough. It will send people to santa rita is wrong. People die at santa rita. The fact most Vulnerable People are at 850 and
Public comment. Please come forward feel free to line up and every speaker will have two minutes. Feel free to get us started. Im a me member of a volunter organization of psychiatrists, therapists, attorneys, family members and others on behalf the severely mentally ill. Demanding treatment before tragedy and i find it encouraging that attention is finally focused on improvement but both bills right now failed to tang int take into accounts y aspects of why our system is dysfunctional. Theres less visible severely mentally ill who live with family members and attempt to ward off disaster for their loved ones and bear the brunts of death threats, visible and physical abuse and disruption of their entire lives attempting to protect their family members. Yet, we have advised by representatives of the department of health to let our loved ones to be destitute to they qualify for services, that is evident. In the 1990s, there were over 100 beds in sanfrancisco and now there are 22. There w
And really make sure that people have the care that we need. I also want to mention that them being arrested was not ok. That was stupid. No warning about know chance and they arrested them and ive been here in a lot of protests and ive never seen that. Good afternoon, supervisors. The reality is clear that when you see on the street and theyre screaming and they need Health Treatment you get arrested and that is the response and if you are in city hall and you are treatmenting and chanting we need healthcare, you get arrested. Thats why its so important because we dont need changes because if the system is broken and you are telling the people who are effected by the system the most, that we just need a little tweak here and a little change there, then that is a slap in the face. And the only way that we can fix this system is through a vision where the system functioned for the people that it serves. And so i really just want to thank supervisor haney and supervisor ronen for having
