The national costume for the latest Miss Universe Malaysia, Francisca Luhong James, was unveiled yesterday and boy, does it remind us of home.
That’s simply because the costume mostly comprises a replica of a wooden village house also known as
kampung. The 25-year-old was seen lugging the 45kg outfit created by local designer Carven Ong as she walked down an aisle during a press event. She also wears a doll on her head by doll designer Wesley Hilton that mimics her look.

PETALING JAYA: Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 Francisca Luhong James has shared how anxious she felt when she tested positive for Covid-19 and her experience in recovering from the disease.
The 25-year-old took to social media to share her personal journey from being told she had Covid-19 and how she had coped with it. When I received the result, I realised Gosh, I guess it was my fault . I did everything – I wear masks, sanitise (and) wash my hands, but it happened. The best way to solve it is to accept it and follow the standard operating procedure (SOP) of what to do next, she said in an Instagram post on Wednesday (Jan 20).

PETALING JAYA, Dec 31 ― It has been a tough year around the world, with Covid-19.
Few heroes emerged, like Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah who made a name among Malaysians for his leadership role in combating the Covid-19 pandemic.
Much of the attention online however, revolved around former Miss Universe Malaysia 2017 winner Samantha Katie James who was one of the most talked about names after Malaysians took her to task for racist social media posts on the BLM movement in the United States, that also angered the online community worldwide.
