West Ham are considering a fresh approach for James Ward-Prowse after seeing a £30million ($38.3m, €34.4m) offer rejected by Southampton.
A bid in the region of £27m plus £3m in add-ons has been knocked back by the Championship club, who are holding out for more for their club captain.
West Ham are the only Premier League club yet to strengthen their squad this summer with David Moyes still keen for a number of reinforcements before the window closes.
England international Ward-Prowse is high on the club’s priority list, especially following the exit of fellow midfielder Declan Rice.
