After two years of back and forth, Nakuru could be the fourth city in the country after Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu.
This is however dependent on President Uhuru Kenyatta who is yet to receive the report by the Senate before issuing a charter confirming the Rift Valley capital among the cities in Kenya.
In 2019, the Nakuru County Assembly through its ad-hoc committee had recommended to the Senate to approve a city status for the Nakuru municipality owing to some of its features befitting a city.
