An investigation confirms Pierce County is getting its share of COVID-19 vaccine.
“Pierce County is getting 100% of its pro rata doses from the state of Washington. This is clear, unequivocal fact, and anybody who says otherwise is simply wrong,” Gov. Jay Inslee said.
Nick Streuli, the governor’s external affairs officer, explained that the military, veterans’ hospitals, and some other providers that the federal government sends doses to are not required to report their vaccination rates to the state, which can make the numbers look skewed.
President Biden set a May 1 target to have all U.S. adults eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, but local leaders say vaccine supply needs to increase first.
