Newstalk s own Eoghan Murphy gives an update on the number of children waiting for speech therapy.
He highlighting that some of the blackspots with the highest waiting lists include North Dublin, Kildare, and the Donegal/Sligo area. As a result, a third of children in these areas have been waiting over a year for an initial assesment, and some nearly two years.
He described these findings as a geographical lottery .
Miriam Kenny, chairperson of Involve Autism, also spoke about the extreme waiting lists in her Dublin 6 area. She shared that 39% of the children have been waiting over a year. While one non-verbal child has been put on a 55-month waiting list.

Almost 45,000 children across Ireland are on waiting lists for speech and language assessments and therapy, according to the latest figures from the HSE. More than 14,000 of these children have been waiting for more than 12 months for services.
