CANTON The town board passed a budget amendment to increase the town code enforcement officer salary recently.
At their meeting April 8, town board members opted to increase the salary by $10,000 to $53,375 per year.
Traditionally, the position of code enforcement with the town would have covered both town and village code issues, with the village sharing the cost of the salary. After the recent departure of Code Enforcement Officer Jeff Murray, who left to take a code enforcer position with the town of Potsdam, the municipalities decided to each field their own CEO instead.
The town recently hired Miranda Corbine, a former Canton Central graduate, to take over the position on a provisional basis starting April 12 at the $53,375 annual salary.
