36. minus 43 in portland. providence, rhode island minus 32. even new york feeling like minus 15. and yes up on mount washington, minus 107. so we re only about a degree off from that record you spoke about just a few minutes ago. this is a live look at mount washington. again, still pretty dark there, but all you really see is the camera shaking from the wind and a lot of snow on the ground there for quite some time. unit no wa mounts washington at minus 108. frenchville airport in maine topping out at minus 61. even waterford, vermont getting to minus 52. and the extreme temperatures are just that, extreme. a once in a generation event. and it is thanks to the polar vortex. under normal circumstances the polar vortex is pretty stable and keeps all of that extremely cold air trapped up by the north pole. but when you start getting disturbances in the jet stream that allows the cold air to pull back pretty farther south way
so that is why warnings and advisories because of how extreme the temperatures and these windchills are getting. they yes, we talked about mount washington, but portland, maine, minus 39. burlington is minus 34. syracuse and albany, both looking at minus 30. and conditions will improve and that is a good thing because we ve seen some pretty high numbers here. and we talked about mount washington, but cadillac mount, minus 62. friendship airport, minus 61. and waterford, vermont getting to minus 52. here is the good news, the arctic blast will finally recede once we get to as early as tomorrow, you are going to see a significant improvement in the temperatures. take for example boston, high today at 18. by tomorrow we re at 47. new york, portland, burlington, 10 degrees above normal in terms of temperatures tomorrow. that is brutal. allison chinchar, looking forward to tomorrow for those
thursday. chicago at minus 15. the wind chill is minus 35. they had a wind chill this morning of minus 52, 53. the bad news is the air is getting colder. it s marching south and east. hard to see these so let me read them. in minnesota lowest wind chill value, minus 66 in minnesota. lake park minus 63. the record in minnesota is minus 75 degrees. here is what we re looking at tomorrow morning. detroit minus 33. new york city, minus 10. we have 43 possible records that will fall overnight. did you note tice the snow yet? a little bit in d.c. in new york it came through at 3:30. it was 33 degrees and in three hours it dropped to 16.
