I remember when being a division title contender was a pipe dream, and the weed wasn’t even that good. Chicago window box, man. It has a short season, like the Cubs did in those days.
But then the Cubs’ organization led us to believe that their mostly homegrown team would be a well-managed perennial world title contender, the cream of the crop, and they’re not, but they did win a World Series and made the playoffs a few more times. So expectations have been adjusted upward. The weed is better these days, but it’s distributed by ‘the Man’. Some of the thrill is gone. It’s like when Jerry Rubin went Wall Street. Ironic.

Major League Baseball announced that all 120 Minor League Clubs offered an invitation to become Professional Development League ( PDL ) license holders have officially agreed to accept. These teams, selected as partners by Major League Clubs, will provide both facilities and communities that are essential to the development of the next generation of big-league stars.
