Century Farm Applications Due March 1, 2021
If your family has owned your farm for at least 100 years according to authentic land records you are invited to apply for the Century Farm designation sponsored by the Minnesota State Fair and Minnesota Farm Bureau. The farm must be at least 50 acres in size and have been in continuous family ownership for at least 100 years. The Century Farm program was begun i 1976 to promote agriculture and honor historic family farms in Minnesota. More than 10,500 farms have been honored since the program began.
Applications are available on the Minnesota State Fair website: mnstatefair.org/about-the-fair/awards-and-recgnition/. Century Farms will receive a certificate signed by Minnesota State Fair Board President Ron Oleheister, Governor Tim Walz and Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation President Kevin Paap, along with an outdoor sign signifying Century Farm status. ST. PAUL Minnesota Farm Bureau’s Sesquicentennial Farm program will honor Minnesota families who have owned their farms for at least 150 years.
Since the Sesquicentennial Farm program began in 2008, more than 400 farms have been recognized. Applications are due March 1.
The Sesquicentennial Farm program recognizes family farms according to the following qualifications:
The farm must be at least 150 years old this year (2021) according to the abstract of title, land patent, original deed, county land records, court file in registration proceedings or other authentic land records. Please do not send originals or copies of records.

ST. PAUL Voting delegates representing all 78 county and regional Farm Bureaus met via Zoom for the 102nd annual meeting of the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation on Dec. 11.
County voting delegates re-elected Dan Glessing to a two-year term as MFBF Vice President. Re-elected to a three-year term to represent District III was Carolyn Olson of Lyon County, Nathan Collins of Swift County representing District IV and Shayne Isane of the Northwest Regional representing District VII.
Elected to the board of directors serving one-year terms were Promotion & Education (P&E) Committee chairwoman DiDi Edwards of Nobles County and YF&R Committee chair Tyler Nelson of Pine County. Peter Bakken of Rock County was recognized as a retiring Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation board member representing the P&E Committee. He served a one-year term.
Beltrami County Farm Bureau recently received the Minnesota Farm Bureau County Activities of Excellence Premier Award.

BEMIDJI Beltrami County Farm Bureau recently received the Minnesota Farm Bureau County Activities of Excellence Premier Award.
The award was presented by the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation President Kevin Paap during the MFBF 102nd Annual Meeting held virtually on Dec. 11, a release said.
Beltrami County Farm Bureau was recognized for excellence in five key areas: Public Policy, Public Relations, Promotion and Education, Leadership Development and Membership Activity, the release said.
Other county Farm Bureaus to receive the award were Anoka, Cass, Headwaters Regional, Kandiyohi, Wabasha, Washington/Ramsey, Winona and Wright County, the release said.
Swift County man re-elected to Minnesota Farm Bureau board
The 102nd annual convention and annual meeting of the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation was conducted via Zoom this month to elect board members, grant scholarships and honor counties of excellence.

WILLMAR Nathan Collins, of Murdock, was re-elected by Minnesota Farm Bureau delegates to represent District IV, according to a news release from the farm organization.
District IV includes the counties of Big Stone, Douglas, Grant, Kandiyohi, Meeker, Morrison, Pope, Stearns, Stevens, Swift, Todd and Traverse.
The election was part of the 102nd annual meeting of the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation, which was conducted Dec. 11 over Zoom.
