Officials in Houston on Saturday dedicated a massive Black Lives Matter mural to George Floyd in front of the high school he attended. Floyd, who died in May after former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee to Floyd s neck for roughly nine minutes, has inspired dozens of street murals and memorial images around the country amid nationwide rallies for racial justice. This Houston mural, which spans two blocks in front of Jack Yates High School, was designed by Jonah Elijah, an alumni and visual artist. About 25 volunteers, including city employees and art students from the school, helped create the mural over the course of three days, he said.
