Finland saw a decrease in the number of births in the first half of 2023 compared to previous years. According to the preliminary statistics for June, 21,180 children were born during the first half of the year, which is 1,082 fewer than in the same period in 2022.
The number of live births in January-June was the smallest in the measurement history starting from 1900.

Slightly fewer open job vacancies in the first quarter than one
year earlier
The number of open job vacancies was 59,500 in
the first quarter of 2021, while the figure was 63,300 one year
before. The number of open job vacancies decreased especially in
the local government sector. These data derive from Statistics
Finland’s statistics on open job vacancies and describe the
situation on the first day of March.
