The government has conducted a review of the increasing steel imports, prompted by concerns raised by the domestic industry. Steel companies have expressed worries about heightened inbound shipments from specific countries like China and Vietnam. The Ministry of Steel held a meeting chaired by Secretary Nagendra Nath Sinha, joined by industry representatives. Despite similar steel availability in India, there s a continuous surge in imports, with suggestions made to eliminate duty cuts and impose tariff rate quotas.
