With the dengue situation in the country worsening by the day, it is truly frustrating to see the authorities resorting to the same tried-and-not-tested methods of mosquito control, without any real effort or investment into understanding whether their approaches are working.

Dengue-related mortality increased in Bangladesh by 18 over the course of the previous day, bringing the total number of deaths from the mosquito-borne illness there in 2023 to 416. According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 2,480 additional patients with viral fever were hospitalised to hospitals during that time. Nine hundred and nineteen of the new patients were hospitalised in Dhaka, while the remaining patients were checked into hospitals across the remainder of the nation.
