NIGC: Iran gas flow to Iraq reduced over debt

29 December, 2020 Source: IranOilGas.com National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said on Monday, 28th December 2020, it had reduced gas supplies to Iraq over outstanding debts and after several notices, reported the ISNA. In its statement NIGC said: “The Ministry of Electricity of Iraq owes more than $5 Bln in gas bills to the NIGC, of which $3 Bln remains blocked and inaccessible in Trade Bank of Iraq, and more than $2 billion is overdue debt.”  The statement added: “In addition, the Iraqi side owes more than $1 Bln to the NIGC for contractual offenses under the agreement.”  Iran’s Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian is scheduled to visit Baghdad today to discuss the unpaid bills with his Iraqi counterpart.
