ISLAMABAD: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet today (Tuesday) in Peshawar to sight the Ramadan moon, confirmed the body s chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad.
Speaking to Geo News, Maulana Azad said the committee had also extended an invitation to Mufti Popalzai to attend the meeting. I pray to God, may we develop a consensus with Mufti Popalzai, he said. If Allah wants, our decision and Mufti Popalzai s about the beginning of Ramadan will be the same, added Maulana Azad. He reiterated his position that Shariah principles and witness testimonies will determine whether the moon has been sighted or not. Earlier, Geo News had reported Maulana Azad had summoned a session of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for April 13 and that a meeting of the zonal and district committees would take place at their respective headquarters.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet tomorrow (Tuesday) to sight the Ramadan moon, the committee s chairman Maulana Azad confirmed on Monday.

Khateebs to get monthly honorarium

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to extend a monthly honorarium to prayer leaders (khateebs) of Jamia mosques. The honorarium will be paid to all prayer leaders of Punjab, KP and Islamabad.
Prime Minister Imran Khan on the proposal of Religious Affairs Minister Pir Noorul Haq Qadri has approved the monthly honorarium to all of prayer leaders.
Ministry for Religious Affairs will work on it after the prime minister instructs them to collect the data of all of khateebs and other scholars. The ministry will conduct a survey about the exact number of khateebs and their ability in this regard. The ministry also sought the recommendations about the procedure to pay the honorarium to all prayer leaders. The honorarium will be paid to all khateebs of Punjab, KP, Islamabad and Balochistan.
