it is calling on the uk government to do this across britain or give holyrood the power to do this. the announcement was made at the global commission on drug policy in edinburgh. the ministerfor drugs policy, elena whitman, said she wanted drugs laws to be brought into the 21st century. she argued the move would allow those found in possession of drugs to be treated and supported rather than criminalised. there s been no response so far from the uk government. since 2021, it was the norm for a person in possession of class a drugs to be issued with a police warning in most cases. this is now taking it one step forward. we will speak to our correspondent in glasgow or edinburgh later here on
