Manitobans are now legally entitled to paid time away from work to get vaccinated for COVID-19.
The Tories introduced a bill on Tuesday, proposing up to three hours of paid leave so workers in Manitoba can get vaccinated.
Finance Minister Scott Fielding introduced the bill earlier this week, and it was passed unanimously in the legislature and received royal assent Wednesday.
The bill also protects workers who are unable to work due to COVID-19 or side effects from the vaccine.

All Manitobans will soon be able to receive sick leave benefits to get a dose of vaccine.
Finance Minister Scott Fielding introduced Bill 73, the Employment Standards Code Amendment Act, which will enable employees to receive up to three hours of paid sick leave for each time they get a dose, this includes potential future booster shots.

“We want Manitobans to be confident to book COVID-19 vaccinations during work days or work hours without worrying they’re going to lose out on regular wages, that’s really important to make sure all Manitobans are vaccinated,” said Fielding.
