Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long says the Covid-19 pandemic will not end in the first half of this year. He also asked provinces and cities to immediately prepare three scenarios to respond to the pandemic.

Chairing an online meeting on Covid-19 prevention with local authorities on February 19, Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said the Politburo s view is to give priority to fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. The secretaries of local Party Committees must take responsibility for disease prevention in their localities.
Vietnam is expected to secure 60 million doses in 2021 as the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX) initiative and AstraZeneca have committed 30 million doses each to the country, Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said on February 19.

Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long confirmed five new locally-transmitted Covid-19 patients in Quang Ninh, Hai Duong and Hanoi at the Government’s online meeting with 63 cities and provinces this morning, February 2.

Quang Ninh reported three cases, while Hanoi and Hai Duong confirmed one each.
Up to now, Hai Duong Province has reported 207 Covid-19 cases in the current wave, while Quang Ninh Province and Hanoi City have confirmed 33 and 20 cases, respectively. Gia Lai Province has reported six Covid-19 cases, Bac Ninh Province, three, Hoa Binh Province, two, and Binh Duong Province, two.

Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long on January 28 asked relevant units to establish three COVID-19 treatment hospitals in Hai Duong province, where 73 community infection cases were confirmed over the past two days.
At the meeting
At a virtual meeting with the health departments of and a number of hospitals in Hai Duong and Quang Ninh provinces, Long requested an oversupply of medical equipment for the three hospitals to serve the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
