Steering Committee for 9th Report on Implementation of Afghanistan – UN Joint Action Plan for Children Affected by Armed Conflicts Holds Meeting - Ministry of Foreign Affairs

KABUL – Deputy Foreign Minister Mirwais Nab chaired the steering committee meeting on the implementation of Afghanistan and the United Nations joint action plan for children affected by armed conflicts this morning at the Storai Palace of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was attended by deputy ministers and representatives from stakeholder departments of the committee. Deputy Minister Nab called the finalization of the 9th report important and valuable for fulfilling the Afghan government’s commitments towards the United Nations. Noticing the practical initiatives and steps, he emphasized fulfilling the Afghan government’s commitment to preventing underage enrollment in the national defense forces.

Second Consultative Meeting of Ambassadors of Heart of Asia - Istanbul process Convened - Ministry of Foreign Affairs

KABUL – The second ambassadorial consultative meeting aimed at preparations for the 9th Ministerial Conference of the Heart of Asia - Istanbul Process, co-chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Mirwais Nab and Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Kabul Dr. Sa’di Sharifi, was held today at the Storay Palace of the MoFA. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (Political) for Afghanistan Ms. Mette Knudsen and Ambassadors of the member states of the Heart of Asia- Istanbul Process. Deputy Minister Nab welcomed the participants and spoke about his recent visit to the Republic of Tajikistan and the necessary arrangements for convening the Ninth Ministerial Conference of the Heart of Asia - Istanbul Process in Dushanbe.

Deputy and Acting Foreign Minister Receives Pakistani Ambassador to Kabul - Ministry of Foreign Affairs

KABUL – Deputy and Acting Foreign Minister Mirwais Nab received Pakistani Ambassador Mansoor Ahmad Khan to discuss bilateral economic cooperation and the Afghan peace process. Discussing the Afghan peace process, the Minister Nab emphasized the importance of achieving a comprehensive ceasefire and its impact on improving bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Pakistani Ambassador assured Mr. Nab of Pakistan sincere support for sustainable peace in Afghanistan. He added that peace in Afghanistan supports stability in Pakistan and enhances economic cooperation bilaterally and on a regional level. Both sides exchanged views on bilateral cooperation mechanisms, including Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidary (APAPPS), revising The Afghanistan–Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (APTTA), and ongoing trilateral cooperation between Afghanistan-Pakistan-Uzbekistan.
