The Health Ministry on Wednesday reported 10,474 new infections and added 131 victims to the overall death toll. Meanwhile, the 14-day cumulative number of coronavirus cases per 100,000 inhabitants has risen to 201. “We have been seeing a rising trend, a slow but continuous rate of growth,” admitted Health Minister Carolina Darias on Wednesday. The transmission of the virus is rising in nearly all of the country’s regions, apart from in the Canary Islands and in those territories where the incidence was already very low – i.e. Valencia, Galicia, Murcia and the Balearic Islands (all with fewer than 100 cases per 100,000 inhabitants). Janssen vials are expected to start arriving in Spain by April 15.AFP Spain will be receiving its first shipment of Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccines by April 15, according to recent statements by Health Minister Carolina Darias. The government is expecting to get 300,000 doses of the one-shot treatment, making it the equivalent of twice as many doses of the other Covid-19 vaccines currently used in Spain: Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech and Oxford-AstraZeneca. Darias announced on Monday that the first group in line for the vaccine will be people aged between 70 and 79. Blood clot reports The Janssen vaccine uses similar technology as AstraZeneca and Russia’s Sputnik vaccine. It is considered highly effective, even against the new coronavirus variants.
