Telangana: Medaram temple shut after two employees test COVID-19 positive
The temple had recently hosted a four-day festival ‘Mini Medaram Jatara’ which began on February 24.

Mulugu: Days after the mini-festival ended, Medaram Sammakka Saralamma temple in Mulugu district will be shut for 21-days after two officials from the Endowments Department had tested positive for the COVID-19, authorities said.
The temple will remain shut from March 1-21. The temple had recently hosted a four-day festival ‘Mini Medaram Jatara’ which began on February 24. The devotees continued to visit the temple to offer prayers as they were not aware of the incident.

Sammakka Saralamma Jatara is conducted biennially at Medaram Village and it is one of the world s largest tribal fests. The committee of tribal priests said that they will conduct puja for Sammakka and Saralamma from February 24th to February 27th. On the occasion of the Manda Melige festival, the priests perform special pujas for Sammakka and Saralamma at the altar.
Generally, Sammakka Saralamma Jatara is held once in every 2 years. According to the tradition, the priests would perform special pujas for Sammakka and Saralamma during the Manda Melige festival this year.

WARANGAL: The mini version of the mega Medaram Jatara, one of the largest temple events in Asia, would be held from February 24 to 27. The temple trust committee and the endowment department declared the dates on Sunday, clearing apprehensions the Jatara will not be held this year due to the Covid-19 spread.
