This week Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) and Jindal Energy singed a watershed Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) that will see the Indian industrial giant build a 300MW power plant, feed it with coal from its own Mmamabula Coal Mine and supply power to BPC for 30 years.
Government has doubled its contract with Jindal Africa and now requires the firm to deliver 600MW of coal fired electricity, in a project that will be the country's largest Independent Power Producer (IPP) initiative.
