Its got to be much more subtle than that. It got to be about helping each side see where there might be limited areas where they could work together. Im not the great believer in the grand bargain. It is unlikely to be good but they will be some areas where people have quite significant differences and nonetheless have it limited junior level of communication which delivers from a practical benefit to both sides.
