Anna J Zeaken 1934-2021 | News, Sports, Jobs

Together again NILES Anna J. McCormick Zeaken, 86, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family. Anna was born Nov. 22, 1934, in Crossville, Tennessee, the daughter of Henry A. and Mabel Jones McCormick. On July 6, 1963, she was united in marriage to William G. Zeaken for 47 years until his passing in 2011. Anna was a graduate of Mineral Ridge High School. She was employed by General Electric Trumbull Lamp Plant for 28 years. Anna supported her community by volunteering at the polling stations during election time and local Animal Charity events. Anna enjoyed vacations with her husband, Bill, all her dogs and adopted dogs throughout the years, trips to the casino and horse races, watching the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeye football teams, listening to country and Southern Gospel music, church dinners and especially family.

Youth concert band breaks up for spring performance | News, Sports, Jobs

The 54-member Stambaugh Youth Concert Band will play everything from opera (a piece from “The Barber of Seville”) to operatic rock (Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”) at its spring concert Tuesday. About the only thing the concert won’t feature is all 54 musicians on stage at Stambaugh Auditorium the same time. That’s one of the changes necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which wiped out last year’s spring concert by the band, which is made up of top high school musicians from northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania. Michael Crist, co-director of the band along with Tyler Husosky, said breaking up the band into smaller ensembles made it easier to keep everyone safe and comply with state directives.

Mar 1, 2021 MINERAL RIDGE Brenda Lee Tenney of Mineral Ridge, passed away at 11:53 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, in the emergency room of St. Joseph Warren Hospital. She was 61 years old. Brenda was born on Feb. 5, 1960, in Warren, the daughter of David “Buzz” Lowe and Wanda Whittaker Lowe. She was a 1978 graduate of Mineral Ridge High School. Following high school, Brenda furthered her education in early childhood education. Mrs. Tenney owned and operated a child daycare center for over 30 years. She cherished every child that she ever cared for. Brenda loved playing bingo at various locations throughout the area. She cherished her family and loved creating memories with them during their trips to West Virginia. Most importantly, Brenda’s grandchildren were the center of her world.
