The academic behind the National Trust s Woke review to identify properties with links to colonialism today astonishingly accused the government of weaponising history by trying to stop Left-wing academics denigrating Britain s past.

A MAN who forced the closure of busy town centres on two occasions by staging roof-top stand-offs was ‘revelling in the attention’ he was getting, a court has heard. Dane Ryan Saez was responsible for the so-called ‘Siege of Darwen’ in March, which saw the main Blackburn Road in the town closed for more than 13 hours. Several months later in September he struck again, this time in Blackburn, with officers forced to close off Mincing Lane, King Street, Barton Street and Corporation Street after Saez scaled onto the roof of a solicitors firm and started throwing roof tiles at members of the public.
