But he’s one hell of a trooper.” The Iowa State Patrol said in a news release that Hardisty was driving north on J Avenue, also known as County Road P58, when Wink crossed over into the northbound lane and hit her car head-on. Impairment is believed to have played a part in the crash, the release said.

Stephen Wink, 53, of Council Bluffs, has been charged with driving while barred, driving with a revoked license, driving under suspension and having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle, Des Moines television station KCCI reported. A crash report by the Iowa State Patrol says Wink was driving the night of Feb. 2 when his vehicle crossed the center line on a road south of Perry and crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by Danyel Hardisty, 39, who died at the scene.

When rescue crews arrived, they found Hardisty dead at the scene. A 7-year-old child inside Hardisty’s vehicle was transported to Blank Children’s Hospital for serious injuries. Updated: 10:03 AM CST February 3, 2021 PERRY, Iowa Impairment is suspected in a Tuesday evening crash that killed one just south of Perry, according to the Iowa State Patrol. 53-year-old Joseph Wink was driving south on County Highway P58 when he crossed into the northbound lane crashing into and killing 40-year-old Danyel Hardisty of Minburn.  A 7-year-old passenger was injured in the crash and transported to Blank Children Hospital.
