HALIFAX, N.S. As vaccine efforts ramp up during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, CTV News Atlantic explores what you need to know about the multi-phased approaches each of the four Atlantic provinces are taking.
New Brunswick: New Brunswick will distribute the COVID-19 vaccine in four phases. Phase 1, which is ongoing, focuses on immunizing the province’s most vulnerable, including long-term care residents and staff, frontline health-care staff, First Nations adults, and seniors. The following groups are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine: Those ages 75 and over are now eligible through pharmacy Workers who regularly travel across the border, including regular commuters, truckers and rotational workers, are now eligible through pharmacy
HALIFAX Health officials in Nova Scotia are reporting three new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. All of the new cases are in the Central zone. One is a close contact with a previously reported case, while two are under investigation. Two of the province s previously reported cases are now recovered, with the active cases increasing to 21. TOP DOCTOR CONCERNED CASES COULD RISE Nova Scotia s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Robert Strang, says he is concerned about community transmission after seeing several cases this week with no clear link to travel or another case. Many of those testing positive for COVID-19 recently have been socializing more with a broad range of close contacts, said Strang. The good news is that people are, by in large, respecting the limits and they are not gathering in large groups, but they are socializing frequently with different groups of people.

Nova Scotia’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout will expand again next month with 10 community-based clinics for Nova Scotians age 80 and older.
The first prototype community vaccine clinic will open at the IWK Health Centre on Monday, Feb. 22. More clinics will follow in the coming weeks.
Clinics will open in the following communities on these dates:
Monday, March 8: Halifax, New Minas, Sydney and Truro
Monday, March 15: Antigonish, Halifax and Yarmouth
Monday, March 22: Amherst, Bridgewater and Dartmouth
“I am pleased to see more progress in our vaccine rollout,” said Premier Stephen McNeil. “It is important for our most vulnerable and those most at risk to be vaccinated as quickly as possible. I thank Nova Scotians for their patience and attention to public health and safety measures while waiting for the vaccine to become more widely available.”
