Country Lane Garden Club navigates COVID-19

The last time all the members of the Country Lane Garden Club saw each other in person was February 2020. Coincidently this was right after the club met to decide on the future direction of the organization. And true to its plan, Country Lane has stayed the course in spite of or maybe because of all the obstacles in its way this past year.
Thanks to member Mimi Mara, Zoom became the mainstay of the meeting agenda. There have been outside speakers on topics as varied as perennials, garden design and native plants and even a holiday “gathering” where adult beverages were encouraged. Members were able to keep up with each other’s lives and get gardening advice as we usually did. The March meeting was “My favorite flower” where we got to dream of the coming thaw. One of the benefits of these socially distant experiences is that members who live as far away as North Carolina and New Mexico were able to join us.
