Guest i covered the pentagon for six years and had a healthy appreciation of general eisenhower, but i didnt really have an appreciation of the eisenhower presidency. I may college golfer, still golfer and i got the holy grail of golf invites down to Augustine National and i was on cloud nine and went down there and was driving down magnolia lane. Such a spectacular place and for golfers, as you know, its the place to be, so i went and and they told me you are staying in the eisenhower cabin and they couldnt believe it. She looked pretty game there but she was really thoroughly embarrassed and never did a large public event after that. Consequences. However her devotion to the military continued in less public ways. They were living in blair house because the white house was under construction and she had almost weekly gatherings at blair house, social functions bringing in veterans and their families
W. Bush administration. When i was in congress we were able to set aside some differences and accomplish some great things. It was the last time we had a balanced budget and our nation. Back to that. I think there is opportunities that now we can Work Together from whatever political thingsion to get some done, particularly infrastructure but it has to start out, any bipartisanship starts out with a process. You build the framework for an initiative by working with the other party from the very beginning. Bipartisanship is not this is an idea, can we get your support for it . That is not true bipartisanship. I hope we can move in the area of infrastructure with a bipartisan process and outcome so we can do something great and take advantage of this opportunity. You. The United Nations i called on the world to unite against the fighting of violent extremism and challenges the assemblies to gather a year later to discuss. I want to thank World Leaders for answering the call. We are joined from leaders from over a hundred nations, some 120 Civil Society groups from around the world and partners from the private sector. I believe we have here today is the emergence of a group united for destroying isil. We have crippled have alqaeda core in afghanistan and pakistans tribal regions. We are harvesting military intelligence, economic development, and the strength of our communities. Now, i have repeatedly said that our approach will take time. This is not an easy task. We have isil taking root in areas that already are suffering from failed governance in some cases. In some cases, civil war or secretarian strife. And as a consequence, the vacuum that exist in many of these areas, isil has been able to dig in. They have shown themselves to be resilient. A
