Fire Chief Milo Lambert announced the implementation of Stage 1 fire restrictions at Tuesday evening’s regular meeting of the Silver City Town Council: “Effective immediately.”
“We have moved into an extreme drought condition, [and] with our local winds and the amount of dry grass and timber in our area and in consultation with Town Manager [Alex] Brown we have decide to enact Stage 1 fire restrictions for the town of Silver City,” Lambert said, adding that the last time such restrictions were imposed was on April 16, 2019.
“I’ve been meeting with the Forest Service. They enacted fire restrictions across the entirety of the Gila” that went into effect Tuesday, Lambert continued. “Ours will go into effect immediately.”
