A âconsistent and determined fraudsterâ has admitted using other peopleâs bank card details to pay for a Kendal hotel stay, and to hire cars.
As he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court last week and denied four charges, 59-year-old Ian Cullenâs case was listed for trial in front of a jury later this year. Cullen was remanded in custody and his case was listed again today in front of Judge Nicholas Barker for a bail application.
That application was refused by the judge. But after the defendant spent a short time in private conference with his barrister, he was re-arraigned on the charges and entered guilty pleas to all four.

Seized car in Breightmet A CAR was seized last night in Bolton suspicion of being stolen. Officers from the Breightmet Neighbourhood Team found the car parked in Osmund Avenue, having being seen driven on Milnthorpe Road earlier. Checks from officers revealed that the vehicle was displaying false plates - a common indicator of a stolen vehicle. The car, a Vauxhall Vectra, was subsequently seized by police. The seizure was reported on Greater Manchester Police s Bolton North Facebook page. The post said: Another vehicle seized by the Breightmet Neighbourhood Team. This vehicle was seen being driven on Milnthorpe Road. It was later found parked on Osmund Avenue.

Thomas Campbell was hauled before the court after he was charged with stalking his ex-partner using messages, calls and attempting to set fire to her place of work. The defendant, of Longlands View in Kendal, was told he was at a crossroads in his life as his jail sentence for the disgusting offence was suspended by magistrates. The 42-year-old was also made subject of a restraining banning him from any contact with his former girlfriend and her new partner for three years.
