More than 1,000 inmates in provincial jails will be offered COVID-19 vaccines this week.
On Monday, immunization teams set up clinics at Headingley Correctional Centre and Milner Ridge Correctional Centre, which house an estimated 900 people.
The clinics will wrap up on April 29 and April 27, respectively, before immunization teams move on to the Brandon Correctional Centre to deliver doses on April 29. An estimated 273 people are incarcerated at the Brandon jail.

For the first time since last October, the province has recorded consecutive days with fewer than 100 new cases of COVID-19.
Public health officials announced 95 new cases of the virus in Manitoba on Wednesday. There were 94 new infections on Tuesday. It’s the first time since Oct. 18-19 that the province has stayed under the century mark for new cases.

Of the 95 cases, 87 come from Winnipeg (44) and Northern Health (43). Three new cases were found in the Prairie Mountain Health region and three in Southern Health. Interlake-Eastern, which posted a shutout on Tuesday, had an additional two new cases on Wednesday.

As of 9:30am on January 27, 2021, 95 new cases of the virus have been identified, However, one case has been removed due to data correction and brings to net-new case total to 94. The number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 28,996.

• a male in his 70s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region;
• a female in her 70s from the Winnipeg health region; and
• a male in his 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Concordia Place Personal Care Home.

WINNIPEG Health officials have declared another COVID-19 outbreak at a Manitoba jail among the hardest hit by the pandemic. On Monday, the Headingley Correctional Centre was moved back to the restricted level on the pandemic response system as health officials reported another outbreak. According to provincial data, the jail has nine active cases. The province first declared an outbreak at the Headingley Correctional Centre in mid-October. In that time, the jail has seen a total of 258 cases, including 212 cases among inmates and 49 cases among staff.
