By September last year I was aiming to finish my time at an independent London school in December and head to the French Alps to work as a waitress in a hotel. Then, with November’s second wave of the virus and the subsequent lockdown, I realised I had to reconsider my travel options, as neither the French Alps nor South-East Asia was looking viable.
