International court determines scope of duties on certain Chinese imports

The U. S. International Trade Commission determined that an engineered wood product fell within the parameters of the investigative probe into imports of Chinese millwork and wood moulding imported into the U.S. As a result of the ruling, U.S. duties on Chinese wood mouldings and millwork products will remain in place. The trade court sustained the U.S. International Trade Commission’s conclusion that these imports are materially injuring domestic industry.

Comments WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Commerce announced affirmative final determinations in the antidumping duty (AD) investigation of wood mouldings and millwork products from China, as well as the countervailing duty (CVD) investigation of wood mouldings and millwork products from China. Commerce also announced a negative final determination in the AD investigation of wood mouldings and millwork products from Brazil. The investigation determined that exporters from China have dumped wood mouldings and millwork products in the United States at margins ranging from 44.60 percent to 230.36 percent.  In addition, Commerce determined that exporters from China received countervailable subsidies at rates ranging from 20.56 percent to 252.29 percent.
