Why Bertie is only now truly getting to the art of the matter

Gifted Millstreet artist Bertie Buckley paints people, places and pets, and his enthusiasm and passion for his craft is inspiring. Once I start, I could paint morning, noon and night, and forget even to eat at times until the hunger pangs really kick in, Bertie told The Corkman. Even when I m out and about I m constantly making a picture and imagining what colours I would mix to achieve a certain shade in a landscape or the sky, he explained. Readers can see some of Bertie s work currently displayed in the windows of Corkery s Bar at Strand St, Kanturk and he paid tribute to proprietor Dan Twomey who is hosting the exhibition free of charge.
