WHP acquires counterpart

Rob Potter WHP Telecoms, which is backed by Equistone, is continuing its acquisition drive with the takeover of a counterpart that specialises in wireless design. Founded in 2013 by Darren Fenton, Blue Clarity provides its services to operators, multi-site providers and small works contractors throughout the UK and Ireland. It is headquartered in County Down and has a regional office in Glasgow. The transaction provides WHP with the opportunity to in-source design and survey capabilities, further strengthening its position in the sector. Chief executive Rob Potter said: The team at Blue Clarity have developed an excellent reputation for their design capability in recent years and we are delighted to be welcoming them into WHP.

Police investigating leading Belfast legal firm after its closure in 2020

Police are investigating a well-established Belfast law firm to see if there was wrongdoing in the circumstances leading to its closure last year, it can be revealed. Robert G Sinclair & Co in Bedford Street was shut down by the profession’s regulatory body the Law Society last year, with an investigation launched into the practice. Now the Law Society has put Sinclair House in Bedford Street up for sale for £800,000. A spokeswoman for the PSNI yesterday confirmed it was also involved. “Police are working in partnership with the Law Society to establish if there has been any wrongdoing. As enquiries are ongoing it would be inappropriate to comment further.”

Belfast law firm Mills Selig scoops top spot in coveted poll

Belfast corporate law firm Mills Selig has been ranked number one in a major poll. The practice took the top spot in the Experian Legal Advisor by Deal Value for Northern Ireland in 2020 after its work throughout the year, despite the challenging environment. During 2020 it advised on over 30 corporate transactions including work with fintech giant First Derivatives and wind turbine firm, BSI Wind ltd. The company offers a wide range of specialisms including banking and finance, commercial property, restructuring and insolvency and construction.
